He pokes his eyes for stimulation

See this sweet boy?  His name is *Aiden.
He is 4 years old and is an orphan living in Eastern Europe.

God loves him.  God loves him a lot.
In fact, God sent his son to this earth for Aiden .
Aiden is made in the image of God.  He is special.  He is loved by God.

I recognize that and so do a handful of other people.  But the sad thing is, most people do not see that.  Aiden is blind.  He is also an orphan.  And in his country that is two strikes too many against him.

Aiden has spent most of his life in a crib.  Lying down.  He doesn't get talked to.  He doesn't get held.  He is alone.  Because of this lack of love and interaction he engages in 'self-stimulation'.  He bangs his head on the edge of the crib, rocks back and forth and pokes his eyes.  I knew all of this when I first saw him.  It is right there in his Profile. But his situation didn't really feel urgent until I saw the below pictures.

This is Aiden, the boy that God made in His image, poking his own eyes for stimulation.

I am heart broken.
No child should be this neglected that they poke their own eyes.

Please join me in praying for a family to come and rescue this angel boy.  It is urgent.
I don't want him to spend another year alone poking his eyes.  He can grow up to be the man God made him to be.  He just needs a little love and all the good (and sometimes bad) things that family brings.  Please, I am begging you, to pray for this boy.  And please pass his info on to anyone you can think of who could bring him home.

You can find his info HERE.

*Aiden is not his real name.  It is a code name given to him by Reece's Rainbow to protect his identity, which is a very good thing.

This and that

1). We had a garage sale two weekends ago.  It rained all.day.  It was awful.  But we actually sold a lot of stuff and raised about $600!!  We are donating the money towards This little boys grant fund.  Pretty good if I do say so my self.  We also sold a few African bead necklaces we brought back from Africa this last time.  Our Ugandan friend/sister made them and we are sending the money we earn back to her.  So excited about that.

2).  I took a picture of Abby. *claps* Yay me!

2). This weekend we had another garage sale with all the left overs from the last weekend! It was sunny this time but where all the people were?  I have no idea.  But we did manage to raise about $100 more for Owen!

And last but NOT least...

3). Do you remember Diana?  THIS little girl?
Well in case you missed the good news, Diana has met her mom!!!!
Go check out there blog to read more about it, plus there are MOVIES of this sweet girl.
I could die.

How perfect is she?  So precious.

4). In other, other news.
Please pray for our adoption.  Some of our paperwork has gotten stuck in our capital.  It.sucks.  That paperwork needs to be IN Eastern Europe but it isn't.  Our whole timeline is being pushed back farther and farther.  It really, really sucks to not be able to do anything but watch the days tick by.  Guh.

So please, please pray for this sweet girl, that she will be able to come home soon.

Have I mentioned before how perfect she is?  Because she is.

We miss her and can't wait for her to be here with us!!!

Meet Aiden

Finally I can share this sweet face!  I wanted to wait until it was official and it took longer than usual, but here he is!

The newest little heart invader that I get to be an advocate/warrior for.

Is he not precious?

OK, now that you are done staring at his cuteness (Do you see those cheeks??)  let me move on..

Aiden is 4 years old and is visually impaired (not sure if he still has some vision or is completely blind).  I just could eat him up he is so cute.  I am so excited to be his warrior/advocate.

This is what his Reece's Rainbow profile says about him:

"Aiden has some more significant delays however it is difficult to tell if he is cognitively delayed for medical reasons or if his delays are simply a result of institutionalization / lack of stimulation. Aiden engages in a lot of self-stimulation such as poking his eyes, tapping his head on the side of his crib, rocking back and forth, etc. When I first met Aiden he was able to walk around the edges of the crib holding on to the sides, but he would not walk independently, even while holding on to someone's hands. As I worked with him however and he grew to trust me he began to take his first steps and now he loves to walk! Still, at least while I was there, the workers never let him out of his playpen.  Aiden does not speak but he responds to his name and I believe he understands simple directions. He is not toilet trained but he is learning to feed himself.  Aiden is difficult to engage. He doesn't initiate interaction but when you play with him/tickle him, etc. he is full of smiles and laughter. I believe that this boy has way more potential than can be seen right now. Whoever Aiden's family will need to be persistent about getting in his face in order to force him to engage and patient with what may be slow progress but I believe that with the consistent love and stimulation that a family would bring this little guy has all kinds of potential."

I have tons more pictures, stories, and even some movies to share of my new sweet Babe.  God has so heavily laid this little boy on my heart and I can't wait to share how special he is with all of you.  But for today, please join me in praying that his family will find him quickly, he needs a family so badly.

Oh, and did you see those cheeks???

Melissa's Family

"Sometimes in life, there are things you just know.  We know that Melissa is our daughter!  Now we just have to go get her!"

You have no idea how happy it makes me to see someone claim Miss Melissa.  I will never get tired of seeing families created through adoption.  never.

You can meet Melissa's new mom, dad and adorable little sister..

And here at their Family Sponsorship Page (On RR):  www.reecesrainbow.org/sponsorcall
Please keep Melissa and the Calls in your prayers as the work hard to bring Melissa home!

Side Note: Now that Melissa has a family I will be advocating for another child.  Why you may ask?  Because there are still 147 million orphans out there.  Enough said.  In the next day or two I will announce who the new little love is.  Unless your not fond of cuteness overload, your not going to want to miss it. :)

Dear Jordyn,

Dear Jordyn,
8 months ago we fell in love with this picture.

You were cute, you were precious and we wanted you.  Everything about you seemed to fit in our family perfectly.  So we started the paperwork, hoping and praying that we would be able to get you home by your birthday.  But you know what?  God had other plans.

Today is your birthday and today you are not home.  But that's OK.  Soon enough you will be home and than we will party.  I just pray that today is a great day for you.  That you stay out of trouble and get a few extra hugs.  Enjoy your last few months in that special little village you call 'home', because soon you will be leaving.

I'm so happy that you were born 9 years ago and that God made you just the way he did.  I'm sorry that I wasn't there to hug you and kiss you that day like a big sister should.  Believe me, if I could go back to those first few weeks after you were born I would.  I hate that you were alone.

Through all the junk that this cruel world has thrown your way, you still are the sweetest little stinker.
Your amazing.  I could learn a thing or two from you.

(This is her, 'do you really need to take a picture of me?' face.)

We love you so, so much Jordyn.  Please don't ever doubt that.  We can't wait to have you home and have you officially apart of our family.  We miss you and our family isn't complete without you.

Happy 9nth birthday Jordyn G!!!

your sister forever,

God is good

This little girl, the one with the cute noes and teeth.....

Has a family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And not only that, but her family received an almost $6000 grant!!!
(Because she was the first older child to be adopted since that money was donated!)

No words can describe how happy I am.

It has been almost a week since The Parents came home.  Wow.  Time goes by fast!

Last Wednesday (The day after they got home) my dad drove up to the city near here where our Provincial adoption office is.  He needed to drop some paperwork off so that they could get going on the next few papers we needed.  We were more than a little nervous as we had heard that the 'boss' was on vacation for 6 weeks.  The thought of having to wait 6 weeks to get some very basic paperwork signed was..bad.  I'm sure all you fellow adoptive people can understand that.  Just the thought of maybe having to wait an extra 6 weeks for no reason!!!  Oie! But of course, God had everything worked out and when my dad arrived they had all the paperwork not only signed, but packaged and ready for the mail!!  Woohoo!!  I think they were just happy to get rid of us!!  Haha.  The last of our paperwork is now making it's rounds at the capital and our adoption agency and than it is off to EE!  We are so close.  Once these papers are in EE we have a 'worst case' timeline from our facilitators and that puts us at the beginning of September to go back and pick up G!

Oh, and speaking of G, here she is!  Imagine that.  Take a moment to gaze at her cuteness.

The other day my mom decided to go through the clothes we have been collecting for G over the last few months.  Interestingly enough, only 3 of the shirts look like they will fit her.  And none of the pants or sweaters.  She is just THAT tiny.  So, it is back to the drawing board for us.  At least we have a few months now to get some more things for her!!

On another note, I think I have summer plans almost in place.  Phew.  Took me long enough but I really could not make plans until we knew for sure when visits were taking place!  Hopefully they will be for sure, for sure soon and than I will share here.

On another, another note...

Please keep these two boys in your prayers,
Edit: both boys now have a family!

That is all.
