[almost] all together

Today we were celebrating a birthday.  And since the birthday lined up with college breaks, our house was a little full today.  We had [almost] our whole family together.  And it was grand.  When you come from a big family it's hard to get everyone together in one spot, especially when you start adding in-laws.  We have never been all together (we miss you Jeremy and Ashley!!!).  And the last time we were this together was Christmas.  The next time will be June when we have a wedding.

we ate yummy food and a delicious cake.  All while admiring this child's beauty...
Isn't she stunning?  Her curly hair, her big brown eyes, her perfect complexion?
Girlfriend is most definitely adopted. :)

This kid isn't officially a part of our family.  But he basically is.
We all love him to bits and genuinely miss him when he isn't here.

Our whole family.  Plus one & minus two!
[I'll say it again...We miss Jeremy and Ashley!!]

Grandpa got to spend some time with Ava.

Big brother is getting old!

Gergana was so excited all last week counting the days until Joylynn and Josh came home from college.  Her reaction when Joylynn surprised her Thursday night was priceless!  She screamed so loud and then collapsed on the floor.  So, so cute.  She adores her big sister (and her soon to be brother-in-law!).  Gergana is also in this phase were she loves being picked up.  She constantly wants to be held.  Lucky she still is so tiny, or else our backs would be in agony!

We ended the day with a trip to the big sledding hill.

[Video by Joylynn.  Who I love very much.]

Gergana is in a funk today.  So irritable about the smallest things.
Prayer for patience for our family while we deal with her would be appreciated.

Happy Birthday Ksenia!

My sweet girl.
I have very little information on her.  Even her birthday is a mystery.
We know she was born in February, but the day is unknown.
So we picked today, Valentines Day, to celebrate her birthday.

Seems fitting to celebrate this sweet girls 9nth birthday on this day.  A day filled with candy and pink.  We made (and ate!) sugar cookies.  Covered them with teddy bear sprinkles, and said some extra prayers of protection for her.  Her birthday was remembered.  She was remembered.

Happy Birthday sweet girl!  You are SO loved!
I can't wait for the day your family claims you!

In honor of Ksenia turning nine, would you please link up your posts about her below?
I have seen a number of people posting her on their blogs and I would love to show the world how loved she is!

Some Julia love

My sweet babe Julia Melissa.
Home for four months and loving cupcake batter (that's my girl!).

It feels like just yesterday that I was welcoming Julia home at the airport
I really don't have words to express how much I love this child.  How much she has changed my life.

There are more updates and pictures of my girl over on her mom's blog. Be sure to check it out!

Seeing her home, thriving, makes advocating for these children SO worth it.
Aiden. Shannon. Ksenia.
They are all SO worth it.

Gergana's coming home video.

I Love you

Yesterday I heard some of the sweetest words come out of my newest sister's mouth...

"I Love You".

The reason she picked that moment to say those words may, or may not have been, because I was letting her throw money around my room.  Girl is obsessed with money.  And because I am a cool big sister I let her chill in my room a box of coins  Either way, that moment was precious and I hope to never forget it.

counting out the money in two piles.  Africa for me.  Canada for her.

Money is just so much fun to dump on your head.  You should try it sometime.

Note: My bedroom carpet really is not that green.
Yes it is very ugly and very green, but it isn't THAT ugly and green.

Note #2: Gergana had a bunch of dental work done this week.  her mouth is now missing 3 rotten teeth and has had 6 cavities filled.  So be compassionate on her chipmunk cheeks.  ;)

Sweet Pea

We had a couple of really nice days over the weekend.  We were all thrilled.  A little old grandpa who passed me and Abigail on the sidewalk (walker and all!  He sure was moving!) said that this was the nicest weather for February he has ever seen.  If this is Global warming?  Break out the aerosol cans!  Just kidding.  Kind of.  ::ahem::

Anyway, we decided that the scooters needed to come out of winter hiding and be introduced to a certain little girl.  She was thrilled.  I have never seen her so happy or content as she is when riding the scooter.  Many times she would look over at me and tell me that she didn't have a scooter in Bulgaria but now she did.  Precious girl.  She even told me that Canada was "very very good!" when I asked her if she liked it here.  This is such a change from the child who came home 2 months ago.  It is so refreshing to have her settle into life.  If this much can happen in 2 months, just imagine what can happen in 6 months!  Or a year!

The Bear hat?  CUTE and Gergana's new favorite item.
The missing tooth?  Did you see it?  Abigail lost her first tooth this week.  Oh baby, STOP growing up!!!
